THE Book Fair, organised by Jim Thatcher of Once Read bookshop on Crediton High Street, was a heaven for any sort of bookworm.
In fact, Jim's stall said it all in a few books. Side by side were a book on Meccano, then one about jazzman Sidney Bechet, then one about Anglo-Norman warfare and another on how to make rag rugs.
Novels, cook books, gardening, you name it, there was probably a book for it on the tables.
Debbie Vankoutrik and Andrew Davey were promoting Crediton Community Book Shop. Records were for sale in aid of ELF, people selling books to make more shelf space at home.
Colin Andrews was selling copies of his highly entertaining first novel A Matter of Degree where students learn how to teach, plus a touch of folk music, morris and mumming in the 1970s.
A Matter of Degree is available from The Book Shop at Crediton, from Colin (http://www.bonnygreen.co.uk">www.bonnygreen.co.uk) or as an e-book.
The Topsham Bookshop was there. This sells secondhand and out-of-print with a wide subject range. It is run by Hugh Lodder, whose parents lived in Crediton for a great many years.
Tim Matthews was selling sheet music. He used to be organist at Crediton Parish Church, now plays at Okehampton and is part of the Piano Project with Paul Vincent.
They will be giving a concert, The Music Makers, on July 9 at Crediton Congregational Church. Doors open at 6.30pm.
