THE West Gallery Quire will be putting on a Service of Carols and Readings in Holy Cross Church, Crediton on Sunday, December 27 at 6pm.  

Of course it won’t be the same as the Carols by Candlelight which the Quire generally offers at St Lawrence Chapel on the Sunday between Christmas and New Year.

The congregation is limited to 30, there won’t be any congregational singing, and everyone will be in face masks.

The Quire won’t be able to offer the usual non-alcoholic mulled wine and mince pies afterwards, either.

But there will be singing and playing, and readings of various kinds, and it will be as festive as 2020 allows.

The collection will go to the upkeep of St Lawrence Chapel.
