AN afternoon dedicated to the celebration of books, writing and reading, Crediton Literary Festival 2018, will take place at Crediton Library, Belle Parade, Crediton, from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday, June 16.

This is a brand new festival and the Mayor of Crediton, Councillor Frank Letch, will formally open the event.

Devon-based authors from the Exeter Authors’ Association, including Michael Jecks and Karen Maitland, will be sharing their work in a series of "On the Sofa with..." presentations; writing surgeries will take place throughout the afternoon; there will be a FREE book draw; a chance to chat to authors about all aspects of writing and publishing; FREE cupcakes to enjoy as visitors peruse the wide variety of books available for sale and there will also be the announcement of the winner of the event’s first short story competition, which has been sponsored by Yellow Mouse Studios.

The talks include: 2.15pm The Medieval Murderers with Karen Maitland and Michael Jecks; 2.45pm Folklore and Witchcraft featuring Tracey and Mark Norman; 3.15pm Exploring fantasy worlds by Richard Dee and P J Reed; 3.45pm Wicked Crime and Deadly Diseases with J E Hall and Susie Grogan; 4.15pm Memoirs of a Royal photographer by Richard Lappas and 4.45pm Poetry from the pens of Jeni Braund and Brian Willis.
