DEVON County Council has announced that the A377 in Exeter Road, Crediton, which closed for emergency roadworks after a gas leak, has now reopened.

However, it adds that it will close again at 7am tomorrow morning, Saturday, August 30 to enable further work to take place.

It adds that the road should then reopen at 12.30pm tomorrow.

DCC add thanks for the public’s patience.

It was yesterday afternoon that Wales and West Utilities closed the road between Hillbrow Residential Home (Mill Street) and the ASDA Crediton Express fuel station (Exeter Road) due to a gas leak.

An alternative route was signposted via the Crediton Link Road at Wellparks Hill.

Today saw long traffic queues and delays in Jockey Hill, Blagdon, Belle Parade, Crediton High Street, East Street, Mill Street, as a result of the road closure.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys tomorrow due to the next road closure in Exeter Road.
