THE A377 between Exeter and Crediton was re-opened to traffic at 10.30am today, Monday, July 31, following a road accident which saw one car come to rest on its roof after demolishing a low-voltage power cable pole.

Eight homes lost power as a result of the two-vehicle accident.

The cars were removed from the scene and the pole replaced while the road was repaired.

The road was closed to traffic at the Tesco roundabout at Wellparks and at Cowley Bridge, Exeter and diversions were put in place via Bickleigh Bridge (A3072) and Cowley Bridge.

Western Power Distribution confirmed that the pole had been snapped during the accident.

The collision occurred at about 5.50am.
