THE woman who has managed the Crediton branch of Boots the chemist for the past 20 years has paid tribute to customers and staff who work there.

Wendy Lemin is retiring tomorrow, Friday, June 2, after 45 years working for the company.

She originally worked for the Exeter High Street branch when Peter Bryan of Crediton was the manager.

After 20 years she came to Crediton to cover for maternity leave for three months, then went back to the Exeter High Street branch.

Shortly after the manager position became available at the Crediton branch and Wendy returned to Crediton.

Wendy, from Exeter, said: “The team at Crediton is just fantastic and the customers are lovely.

“People have already been coming in with gifts and cards after hearing that I am to retire.

“I am touched by their kindness.

“I am sorry to go but it leaves the way for Mike as the new manager.

“He will carry on and do an amazing job.

“This is a busy store and it is like a big family working here, including how well we know our customers.”

Wendy said she did not think she would miss the 7am starts each day, adding that she and her already retired husband were looking forward to some holidays in Cornwall and Scotland.

She added that she wants to give her garden “a huge revamp” and had a few other projects to complete.

Wendy added: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working in Crediton.”
