I AM responding to a letter in the Crediton Courier last week.
How pathetic is it that the “poster girl” Heather Sansom feels encouraged that event posters are being removed “promptly” and then goes on to wish “every success with your events”.
I put my posters in poly pockets and I remove them when the events are over.
It would have been much kinder of you Heather to contact me and tell me the “acceptable” way, if that is the case (as my details are on the poster).
Bands and in particular businesses that depend on the bands to bring in trade, are trying their best to keep afloat and all you can do is write into the Crediton Courier newspaper and speak as if you have just scored a point.
The posters for the Moon Jazz and Blues Club that were removed were advertising a new slot for young musicians to come and play with older musicians.
I have since learnt that the Family Market posters for the Boniface Centre were also removed at the same time.
Your comments and beliefs are not in-line with the fantastic spirit in this town to create and promote culture.
When I see event posters I think, look at the life and culture in our town. We are really lucky.
And a message to the council, if we had an information centre, designated event boards and a well co-ordinated “What’s On Crediton” promotion, constantly pushing events that people quite often do off their own back, then we might not have to fly poster.
And don’t say there is no money for it because you will insult my intelligence. Just use the money you have correctly.

• Editor’s note: Crediton Town Council are making efforts to try to tidy up the town.
In one recent week Heather was able to remove 80 out-of-date posters for a music festival in Ilfracombe, more than 25 from Crediton Area Family Market advertising an event six months previously and more than 15 for Sandford Rocks which were a month out-of-date.
Crediton Town Council does contact those who flypost illegally.
Heather previously confirmed she only takes down posters which are out-of-date and appealed for people to put up posters responsibly. Mr Vaccari you assume Heather had taken down your posters but this may not have been the case.
Professional cleaners had to be brought in by Crediton Town Council to help clean graffiti from signs recently.
Crediton Town Council issued advice about responsible poster placement (as published in the Crediton Courier, September 18).
Crediton has a number of locations for event poster placement (eg Mid Devon District Council offices, Susan’s florists wall, many other businesses) and Evans Newsagents has applied to become the town’s information centre.
The Crediton Courier and Crediton Town Council social media sites are used by many organisations to promote and publicise events and the “Crediton Courier” has a free event listing, the Kirton Raiser.
