SEVEN fire crews attended a vehicle fire near Moretonhampstead on Monday, August 24.

Fire Control were alerted to the fire at about 4pm and mobilised crews from Chagford and Moretonhampstead.

On arrival, crews requested two additional fire engines and a water bowser due to the fire spreading to two adjacent fields.

Crews then requested further fire appliances due to the requirement of extra personnel at the incident. Specialist officers also attended the scene.

Crews used 4 Hose reel jets, 4 Main jets, 1 Thermal imaging camera and 8 Fire beaters.

The car and two areas of grassland and 100 metres of hedgerow were destroyed.

It was believed to have been accidental.
