A FIELD on fire at Coldridge saw firefighters attend at about 6pm this evening, Sunday, August 23, to fight the blaze.

Smoke could be seen rising from the field near Frogbury Cross from some distance.

Chulmleigh and Okehampton fire crews attended and used four hose reel jets and beaters to put out the fire which burned three acres of grassland.

Both crews worked quickly to stop the spread of the fire, minimising the damage in the field and containing it to one area.
