THE A377 has been closed between Bugford Cross turning to Morchard Bishop and Kelland Hill, Lapford due to a vehicle fire.

The incident happened at 1.06pm today, Saturday, June 20, but at 6.30pm still remains closed.

Two fire engines, from Witheridge and Danes Castle, Exeter and a water carrier attended.

A telehandler was 100 per cent destroyed by fire, as well as approximately five metres of adjacent hedgerow.

The trailer that was attached to the tele handler, as well as a nearby phone line also suffered heat damage.

BT Open Reach were made aware of the damage and the incident was left in the care of the police.

Traffic is advised to seek an alternative route.
