DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service sent three fire appliances to a report of a fire at the Bubble It laundrette at 6 High Street, Crediton, at about 11.30pm last night, Tuesday, May 26.

On arrival the crews found that the premises was not involved in fire but that a bag of clothing was smouldering, which had triggered fire alarms.

The bag was dampened and removed from the property.

A spokesperson at Bubble It said that it was a bag of smouldering t-towels which had been washed many hours before.

“The t-towels were very greasy and for some reason just combusted.

“Fortunately there was no damage other than the bag and t-towels.”

The laundrette is fully open and operating normally.
