The firefighters are rowing for the duration of Neil’s run of the 26-mile route, which he started at 11.17am today, Sunday, April 21, finishing the row when he completes the marathon.

It is hoped he will complete it in under four-and-a-half hours.

In the Town Square the firefighters are taking it in turn to row, until at least 4pm.

They and Neil are fundraising for The Fire Fighters Charity, which supports all serving and retired UK firefighters.

There is also a cake stall with some delicious cakes for sale as well as a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.

A Crediton fire appliance is in the Town Square and children can get inside the fire engine to have-a-look.

All are invited to attend to buy cakes, buy a raffle prize and make a donation.

Neil has already beaten his target of £2,000, funds raised at three car washes and from online donations.

Last week he received a generous donation of £500 from Crediton Dairy, plus donations from Crediton Freemasons and a donation and free trim from Crediton High Street’s King’s Barbers.
