A 92-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an 87-year-old woman was found dead at a property in Exeter on Sunday, April 19.
Police were called to a concern for welfare of a woman at an address on Millbrook Lane, Exeter, at around 12.40pm.
Officers and paramedics attended and the elderly woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Detective Inspector Guy Biggar, who is leading the investigation, said: “Officers are continuing with their enquiries to establish what happened in this sad case.
“A police guard that was set up at the scene has since been stood down.
“It is believed that the man and the woman were known to each other.
“We are not seeking anyone else in connection to the death and members of the public will still see a heightened police presence in the area as our enquiries continue.”
The arrested 92-year-old man is from Exeter and remains in police custody.
