A377 NOW OPEN: Police confirm that the A377 has now reopened but traffic is still busy.

RAIL services have been suspended between Exeter St Davids and Tiverton Parkway and Crediton and the A377 has been closed at Cowley Bridge Road due to an ongoing police incident.

Great Western Railway (GWR) has said that a person has been struck by a train, leading to all lines being blocked.

It adds: “Therefore, it is necessary to bring all trains in the affected area to a stop.”

The A377 is closed in both directions at Cowley Bridge Road.

Multiple emergency services are at the scene including a Devon Air Ambulance.

The only vehicle access between Crediton and Exeter is via St Andrew’s Road.

Motorists and rail passengers are advised to expect major delays.

Stagecoach says bus services have been diverted via Bickleigh to and from Crediton.

The advice is to avoid the area where possible.

The incident occurred at about 2pm.

Rail replacement buses have been requested by National Rail but expect trains to be cancelled, delayed or revised.
