CREDITON Library will be shut on Thursday, October 1 and from Monday, October 5 to Friday, October 9 for “Open Plus” technology to be installed.

The library will reopen as normal on Saturday, October 10.

Open Plus will allow registered users to access the library outside normal staffed hours.

“This allows us to extend our opening hours so you can use the library in the evenings and weekends,” said a Libraries Unlimited spokesperson.

“During Open Plus you will be able to browse the shelves and return and issue your books using the self-service kiosks; use free Wi-Fi; use the computers to access the internet and free library resources such as Ancestry.com and driving theory practice tests; print documents; read, work and study; and use the library for groups such as book groups.

“All you need to do to access this service is have a library card, register with the scheme and have a brief induction.

“There is additional work to complete after the installation, and we expect Open Plus to be available at Crediton Library later this year.
