A CREDITON business has today issued a warning to other shopkeepers and businesses in the town after one of its charity boxes was stolen and the contents taken.

In a statement, Crediton Pharmacy said: “We would like to share the upsetting news that one of our charity boxes has been stolen, emptied and left damaged in the street.

“We would like to make other Crediton Businesses aware of this so that it doesn’t happen to them, and to ensure that the money given by our generous public will not be stolen from our wonderful charities who work so hard for the whole community.”

The Devon Air Ambulance charity box which was emptied was described by staff as “fairly full”.

They described the incident as “upsetting”.

The shop’s charity boxes have now been firmly chained and Crediton Police are investigating.
