TUESDAY, April 19 saw Crediton Downes Golf Club’s Lady Past Captains get together for the traditional nine hole stableford prior to the start of the season and there was some fine scoring.

Lyn Parry was victorious posting a superb 19 points whilst past and current Lady Captain, Shirley Stunell, was second with a score of 18 points.

The winner of the Midweek Stableford, played on Wednesday, April 20, was Ollie Knowles scoring 37 points.

Murray Smith blew the rest of the competition out of the water in the nine-hole Stableford on Thursday, April 21, as he scored a fantastic 21 points for victory.

On Saturday, April 23 Downes members played their first medal of the year from the white tees and it saw some fantastic scoring.

Top of the pile was the in-form Steve Blackmore as he posted a cracking nett 63 (seven under) to take the overall win and Division Three.

Rohan Hardeman (nett67) followed in second with Mike Charnock (nett69) third.

Graeme Amos topped Division One with a nett 67 (three under) beating Robin Abrahams into second by virtue of a better back nine holes.

In Division Two Neil Ford posted a nett 69 (one under) for the win with Gerry Hodder (nett70) second.

Stephen Yates scored a gross 76 to win the scratch prize whilst Rebecca Aven (nett72) was the leading lady.
