LOCAL runner Sarah Berry will be taking part in the Reading Half Marathon, on Sunday, March 2, to raise funds for the Greyhound Sanctuary at Morchard Bishop.
Sarah's greyhound, Joe Bean, came from the sanctuary.
He had been found tied up outside a veterinary surgery in Ireland after being abandoned and was taken in by the sanctuary at Morchard Bishop, where Sarah found him.
Working at Groomed to Pawfection gave Sarah the opportunity to change his diet and improve his condition – and he is now a beautiful dog.
Sarah says: "Joe has brought joy and happiness to our house, he is so easy to look after and is very good natured."
The Greyhound Sanctuary is a local charity whose main aim is to rescue and rehome abandoned greyhounds.
As a small charity they are unable to keep many dogs and are currently looking for foster homes for some of the greyhounds to make room for more.
Sarah believes that without the sanctuary greyhounds would die and she has decided to raise some money to help them.
She has been running for several years with the Crediton Running Network and will be doing the half marathon with her friend, Sarah Ford, to raise funds for the charity.
Groomed to Pawfection is supporting Sarah and the Greyhound Sanctuary. Any donations can be pledged at http://www.facebook.com/groomedandlivingtopawfection">www.facebook.com/groomedandlivingtopawfection or taken to the High Street grooming salon.
