TOPSHAM 43-24 CREDITON RFC 2ND XV

THE 2nd XV faced another stern test as a well‑drilled Topsham side were welcomed to Blagdon.

Having been beaten comprehensively away from home earlier in the season, there was more at stake than just the result for the lads and it was important to show that we could compete.

Our visitors struck early, showing sharp hands and confident phase play to take the first points of the afternoon. We refused to roll over and hit back with determination, crossing the for a try to keep the contest alive.

After the break, we started well, scoring early and shifting the momentum in our favour. What followed was a spell of end‑to‑end rugby, with both teams trading blows until the scoreboard sat level at 24-24.

Unfortunately, the final quarter proved decisive. A run of injuries forced several reshuffles across our lineup, disrupting rhythm at a crucial moment. Topsham capitalised on the changes, running in three late tries to pull away.

Despite the 24-43 final scoreline, we showed real heart, resilience, and flashes of quality throughout. Plenty to build on as the squad regroups for the next challenge.

Tries: Ben Baxter, George Baxter, Charlie Gribble, Sam Ronchetti. Cons: Tom Ronchetti, George Baxter.

This coming Saturday there is no game for the 1st XV. The 2nd XV host Withycombe while the 3rd XV head to Brixham. The Colts complete the group phase of the Devon Colts Competition away at Sidmouth.
