FOR the first time, Downes Crediton Golf Club held organised events to raise funds for Comic Relief and it was not so much red noses that were around as red faces from exertion!

In total club members raised £122.81 and had an enjoyable day with lots of laughs.

There was a team effort of members and staff who took turns in running on a treadmill in the bar with the intention of running a marathon. In fact, they notched up a total of 28 miles - exceeding their target.

Bec Gooding, assistant administrator, was the Red Nose Day marathon run organiser. She and Ollie Greenslade dressed in tiger suits, with red noses, to start the running.

Best effort came from Devon Greenslade with eight a half miles and Liz Mapson who ran three and a half miles.

They were later joined by Chet Greenslade, Graham Dyne, Judith Ezard, James Bourner, Matt Dyne, Abby Gowing, Tim Lee and club professional Barry Austin, who all ran to help towards the target.

Club caterer Jane Nott and her daughter Louise Baddeley made, decorated and donated red nose cup cakes which sold out quickly, raising £60 towards the grand total.
