SIMON Brassington, former Queens Badminton Club captain is having a remarkable season. He is training at the Queens Performance Centre with head coach, Helen Ward, who is hoping Simon will make the Under 19's Nationals which will be held at Milton Keynes this month.
Not only does Simon play for the Queens A team but he was also recently selected to play for the Devon Adult first team, which is a remarkable achievement.
Nick Masson, Chairman and Head of Performance, said: "Simon is a real credit, not only to his family, but also to Queens BC. He works tirelessly to improve his skills and rarely misses training sessions.
"It is this commitment that has resulted in him being selected for the Devon Adult first team and shows that his skills are being recognised at the highest level in Devon."
On top of this Simon continues to go along to the club where he helps and supports younger players coming through at the club.
Hannah Preece, who is the Queens BC Club Captain, also captains the Queens BC Ladies First Team in the Exeter and District Badminton League.
She has also recently played for the Devon Adult First Team and is hoping to be selected to play in the Under 19's national Tournament at Milton Keynes.
Hannah, who is just 17 years old, has recently improved her national adult ranking to 40th in the country, which is an amazing achievement.
Nick Masson said: "Hannah makes no fuss and just gets on with her training and works exceptionally hard. Not only is she a dedicated and talented player, but she is great with younger members in the club. She is a fantastic role model for all the players."
On top of all this, Hannah is a Level One Badminton England qualified coach and regularly helps players in the club and also works in the local schools.
Sarah Preece has recently been selected to play for the Devon Adult first team along with Simon Brassington, Hannah Preece and Russell Walker. She is currently studying for a maths degree at Southampton University, but still comes back to Queens BC to help out with coaching and fundraising activities.
Sarah is a Level Two Badminton England Coach and hopes to return to Devon to become a teacher. Nick Masson said: "We are exceptionally lucky to have Sarah at the club.
"Not only is she a fantastic badminton player but also makes a significant contribution to the administration of the club."
Sarah plays for Southampton University and when possible, Queens BC ladies first team.
