THE latest chapter of Crediton’s Queen Elizabeth’s School Sports Partnership saw more than 400 Year 3 and 4 primary school students take part in an all-day gymnastics festival held at the Western Road Sports Hall.

Held over two days (November 22 and 23), the youngsters arrived for the event with bags of enthusiasm and enjoyed more than 10 different gymnastic stations led by 60 of QE’s dedicated Year 9 Sports Leaders, including rolling, balancing, travelling, linking, jumping, vaulting and flight.

Year 9 Sports Leaders May Brittain and Zoe Housley commented after the event: “The experience was really enjoyable. Helping the younger children to push themselves was very rewarding and we went away knowing we had taught them something - was a really great feeling.

“The whole festival ran smoothly and all of the children left with a smile on their faces. I really enjoyed the responsibility. I felt it made me more mature and it brought out the best in our year group. The children put a smile on my face and I hope they enjoyed it.”

The next event in the sports partnership, taking place on February 1 and 8, 2019, will be one for the youngest primary school students - the “Year 1 and 2 multi-skills fiesta”!
