CREDITON Learning Community’s annual swimming gala for children from local primary schools again took place at Crediton’s Lords Meadow Swimming Pool and 11 of the 13 schools took part.

Six individual events for girls and six for boys, plus two relay races, saw some great swimming and even the less able swimmers showed real commitment in representing their school.

All swimmers were given a “well done for representing your school” certificate and those in first, second and third place received a further certificate.

We were delighted that Mrs Sue Leyman had kindly agreed to assist in presenting the certificates and trophies on poolside.

The primary schools are grateful for the kind co-operation of the staff at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre and the valuable assistance from the Crediton and District Swimming Club and support from Queen Elizabeth’s School.

Nineteen Crediton and District Swimming Club members from Year seven and eight at QE assisted brilliantly this year.

Once totalled, the points scored saw Hayward’s winning the Janet Postance trophy and Bow winning the runners-up trophy.
