ONE of the delights of the Commonwealth Games is the TV coverage of minority sports such as Badminton, Squash and of course Bowls.

To see the hallowed rinks of Leamington Spa has been magnificent and it is here that most club bowlers strive to get to for the National Finals.

Having defeated Sandy Curtis of South Morton 17-11 this is something that Nikki Payne of Crediton Bowling Club can now look forward to.

Having already qualified in the ladies fours she now has the two woods to aim for.

It is a busy weekend coming up for both the ladies and gents teams.

On Saturday the ladies are in Paignton and the men are in Torquay.

The ladies beat Great Torrington 41-27 in the InterClub competition and now meet Madeira A in the semi-final.

If they win that they will play either Honiton or United Sevices.

The men defeated Pennycross 5-0 in the Top Club and in the semi-final will face Kings, Torquay.

If they are able to get past that hurdle then they will face the winners of the other semi-final between Culm Vale and Newton Abbot.

There are four weeks left in the Exeter Over 60s League and it isn’t very often that this happens!

Crediton A 8 - Heavitree A 0

Crediton B 8 - Chardstock A 0

Crediton C 8 - Culm Vale C 0

It means that currently the A team are top of Division One, the B team are fourth in Division Four and the C team are seventh in Division Six with a great chance to climb the table as this weeks fixture is against Ottery St Mary D team who are eighth.
