THE Monday evening Kung Fu group led by Robert Byrnes recently had their grading at the studio in Union Road.

Members, Alex Boyle, Mike Peel, Tom Pursey, Dan Hodges and Sam Agasee all reached the required grade in the syllabus and Dan also did a grade 2! Mike Ridley did a pre grading.

The group has adopted the traditional syllabus of 7 Star Mantis Kung Fu Grand Master Lee Kam Wing in Hong Kong.

Rob explained: "I am a 9th Generation Sifu in this lineage, meaning my students are the 10th Generation of the Kung Fu lineage that goes back 400 years to the Shaolin Temple and has since travelled through Beijing, Hong Kong and the UK thanks to my Sifu (Sifu Derek Frearson 8th Gen and directly under Grand Master Lee)."

He added: "Our style is rich and contains many ancient movements based on nimble footwork and fast striking technique and grappling.
