MEMBERS of the Kirton and District Ladies Darts League have come to the end of their 2011/2012 season.
The Cross Hotel, Copplestone team is still undefeated. Winning the League means that a team from the hotel has won the League for the 15th successive team - must surely be a record.
A team from Potters B picked up the wooden spoon award.
There have been some great and exciting encounters through the season with some results which could not have been predicted.
One game, the individuals final was one of them, with Becki Squires (Mitre A) and Katie Miller (Mitre B) battling it out. Katie ended up taking the match 3-1.
The pairs finals was also played on finals night at Potters and was very closely contested between Becki Squires and Jenny Leahy (Mitre A) against Sandra Chamberlain and Helen Lygo (Cross Hotel) with Sandra and Helen eventually taking the game 3-2 to claim the winners' trophy.
Other matches played on finals night were the Seniors' Cup with Val Brewer (Red Lion) beating June Bilcock (Mitre B) 3-0 and the Under 30s with Sammie Cockram just beating Charlene Sutton 3-2 both from Mitre A.
Special mention must be made of Tracy Ware (Duke of York) who won the Consistency Cup, having played every league match during the season, without losing a single game.
The best news was that Lisa Stevens and Mark Strong brought the Clara trophy back home. May Strong used to play for the Plymouth Inn and the Clara Cup was named in honour of her.
Lisa and Mark overcame some strong opposition to beat some very good pairs on the path to winning the trophy. The trophy will understandably take pride of place at the Plymouth Inn, which is where Lisa now plays darts and where May Strong played for many years.
League committee members thank all players, captains and publicans for their continued support of the league.
The committee invite new players and teams to play in the 2012/2013 season which begins in early September.
