HEAVIEST fish landed at Creedy Lakes, in Crediton, last week went to James Verney of Barnstaple when he tempted out a lovely specimen common weighing 23lbs 2oz.
In total the North Devon angler banked 12 fish, all of which were common and he fished in the margins using maggot on a float.
A 22lbs 7oz common was banked by Cheriton Fitzpaine angler Jarrod Kastner who reported a bag of four fish. His other catches included one single and a pair of low doubles.
There was plenty to smile about from Tiverton junior angler Lewis Stone who fished with one of his dad’s rods over the weekend. In the shadow of his older brother, 12-years-old Josh, it was a hard act to follow as he has previously banked several 20 pounders.
However six-years-old Lewis was not fazed and he had three catches during his visit. Topping his bag was a 19lbs 10oz common followed by a 17lbs 8oz and finally one of 15lbs 6oz.
It appears he is a natural angler too, well done Lewis.
Local angler James Sanford from Tedburn St Mary also had a great session which saw him banking two very clean and nicely coloured commons both of 17lbs.
Crediton angler Tom Wood also landed a nice 15lbs 14oz common.
