DOWNES Crediton Golf Club Seniors competed for the Alan Ruddock Trophy on Monday, July 17 and leading the scoring was Roger Gratton with a score of 42 points.
Also with 42 points with a better back nine was second placed Colin Baker.
Gratton also won Division Two with Andrew Chandler (40 pts) second and David Moss posting 39 points to finish third and also win the Alan Ruddock Trophy for the best score from a player over 70 years of age.
In Division One Colin Baker took the win with Keith Blake and Pete Russell second and third respectively both scoring 38 points.
Sam Hills took the win in the Midweek Stableford on Wednesday, July 19 scoring a fine 41 points. Patrick McVeigh followed in second place posting 39 points with Robbie Hallam (38 pts) in third.
The Ladies LGU Medal 7, on Thursday, July 20, saw June Mitchell take top spot, scoring an impressive one under par nett 73.
The ever-consistent Liz Mapson posted nett 73 to finish second with Betty Willey and Fran Shrubsole scoring nett 78 for third and fourth respectively.
Mike Charnock and Derek Shaw won the nine hole Thursday Evening Stableford both scoring 17 points.
With the course in superb condition Saturday, July 22 saw some terrific scoring in the John Percival Trophy, a three player team medal with one score to count.
Victory went to Sam Hills, Steve Fewings and Paul Furzer scoring an impressive 17 under par nett 53 just piping Kev Cole, Rodin MacKay and Alex Williams (nett 54, 16 under par) into second.
Third place went to Kes Blackmore, Derek Shaw and Robbie Hallam whose score of nett 57 was bolstered by Blackmore’s first ever hole-in-one on the par 3 11th hole.
Downes’ men continued their fine run in the National Annodata Club Knockout on Sunday, July 23, beating Elfordleigh 4-1 to move into the next round.
