DOWNES Crediton Golf Club Seniors played in a Pairs Greensomes Stableford on Monday, January 9 which produced some very impressive scoring.

Top of the pile were Gerry Hodder and Graham Pateman who put together a stableford score of 43 points to take victory by one point.

Second spot saw “in form” Jim Dunlop and partner Barrie Greedy score 42 points to beat Graham Cox and Wally Phillips (41pts) into third courtesy of a better back nine holes.

With a poor forecast of heavy rain and snow for the afternoon of Thursday, January 12 Crediton ladies played their Greensomes Stableford competition over nine holes.

Winning with a one under par score of 19 points were the duo of Annet Coles and Shirley Stunell. Fran Shrubsole and Ying Wong pushed them close scoring 18 points to finish second with Di Botterill and Trish Wallis third posting 17 points.

Saturday, January 14 saw Downes men play an individual stableford that saw a superb winning score of 41 points from Rodin MacKay playing off of his five handicap. This also saw him take victory in Division One beating Paul Sandercock (39pts) into second with the ever-consistent Alan Draper (39pts) in third place.

Clive Elliott took the spoils in Division Two beating David Taylor and Nick Murch into second and third respectively with a superior back nine after all three scored fine 39 point totals.

Division Three saw Matt Brooks take top spot scoring 39 points beating Matt Redstone (38pts) into second by a single point. Frank Morrell followed in third posting 36 points.
