CREDITON Lions Club and Downes Crediton Golf Club worked together to raise £800 for Children’s Hospice South West at a Charity Golf day on Friday, July 9.

A very successful day was held with support of teams of Club members competing for the first prize of a round of Golf for four at one of the premier Golf courses in England, Saunton Golf Club in North Devon.

Winners were the team Laurie Taylor, Ian Pring, John Cann and Rick Eidam who came in with a magnificent 97 Stableford points.

Second with 90 points was Duane Greenslade, Peter Blinkhorn, Stuart Lawes and Andrew Rogers winning a similar round for four, but this time at Torquay Golf Club.

Lions Peter Bryan and Eric Parkes, both members of Crediton Golf Club, expressed their thanks to the club for the support given this year, the excellent condition of the course and hope that 2022 will see an even more impressive total raised.

Ruth Morgan, Children’s Hospice South West Area Fundraiser, attended a ceremony held at the golf club to receive the cheque.

Afterwards she said: “I am delighted to be able to accept a generous donation from the Crediton Lions from their Golf Day.

“This will help us to continue to support children with life limiting conditions and their families, helping to make the most of short and precious lives.”
