A TEAM Texas Scramble was played by Downes Crediton Golf Club seniors on Monday, February 13 and winning, with a nett 66, were the trio of Brian Kelly, Paul Fricker and Cyril Dawes.
Six teams finished a shot further back on nett 67 but due to back nine scores Frank Morrell, Roger Wellaway and Eric Mundy finished second with Steve Gidley, Simon Mannell and John Wigginton third.
Thursday, February 16 saw the Ladies play a par/bogey competition, a form of Matchplay against the golf course.
First place went to Trish Wallis who beat the course scoring +2 whilst Liz Mapson finished second level with the course on 0.
Betty Willey and Lyn Parry placed third and fourth respectively after both posting -1 scores.
A total of 106 Downes members took to the course on Saturday, February 18 to play an individual stableford handicap qualifier.
On a beautiful day and with the course superb condition there was some fine scoring and none better than Mark Harris whose 42 points secured the overall victory beating Tim Keehner (42 pts) with a better back nine.
Harris and Keehner also took the top two spots in Division One with Jason Arnold following in third, a point further back scoring 41points.
Division Two saw Josh Hill get top score with 39 points. A point further back saw three players post 38 points with Rob Dobson finishing second courtesy of a better back nine and Peter Blinkhorn (38 pts) third with Barrie Phillips (38 pts) fourth.
Chris Parker took the honours in Division Three scoring 39 points with Matt Brooks (38 pts) finishing second and Andrew Chandler (38 pts) third.
Tracey Chandler took the victory in the Ladies Division scoring 35 points.
