DAVID Taylor, Downes Crediton Golf Club’s captain in 2016, stole the show in the Midweek Stableford on Wednesday, May 3, scoring 40 points to win by two from Darren Clifford (38 pts) and Mark Harris (38 pts) who finished second and third respectively.

The Ladies Spring Meeting and LGU Medal, on Thursday, May 4, saw Judith Ezard post a fine nett 74 and enjoy the overall victory.

June Mitchell and Annet Coles both scored nett 76’s with June taking second by virtue of a better back nine holes.

In the Thursday evening nine hole stableford, Kes Blackmore and Derek Shaw tied for first place, both scoring 21 points.

Downes members played the Rosemary Parker Stableford on Saturday, May 6 and the impressive score of 43 points saw Ian Steer take the victory.

This also saw Ian win Division Three with Chris Parker (40 pts) second and Podge Edgecumbe (39 pts) third.

Oliver Greenslade took top spot in Division One scoring 38 points and also won the 40th Anniversary Jug as the leading Captain or Past Captain from all the Club Sections.

Division One runner-up was Adam Hull (36 pts) with Steve Whyte (36 pts) third.

Division Two saw Graham Dyne post 40 points to win, beating Gerry Tomlinson (40 pts) into second place courtesy of better back nine holes. Mike Allen scored 38 points to finish third.

Downes Ladies enjoyed a fine 3-2 away win at Fingle Glen Golf Club to progress through to the second round of the Annodata team event.

This week saw both the men and seniors teams exit from their respective Devon County Knockout Competitions. Downes men lost to East Devon in the Palairet Trophy whilst the seniors lost to Wrangaton in the Emerton Court.
