DOWNES Crediton Golf Club’s Seniors event on Monday, August 19 saw a field of 66 take on the Mike Dunk and Phil Ollis Trophy, an individual stableford.

It was David Vowden who claimed the Phil Ollis Trophy and topped Division One with an impressive 40 stableford points.

Brian Kelly (39 pts) and Peter Blinkhorn (39 pts) followed closely behind finishing second and third respectively.

In Division Two it was Peter Stunell who scooped the Mike Dunk Trophy with a score of 37 points beating Richard Wilson and John Warren into second and third by virtue of a better back nine.

The Midweek Stableford on Wednesday, August 21 was won by Patrick McVeigh with a total of 40 points. Alan Draper trailed in second place with 38.

Thursday, August 22 saw our Ladies compete in their Invitation Day which saw a healthy field comprised of players from different clubs around the area.

Joanne Cole and guest Carole Raymond took the win in this pairs event with a superb score of 44 points, and were two and three shots clear of Lyne Beevers and Lyn Parry (39 pts) in second place with Ayumi Cotton and Ying Wong (38 pts) in third place.

Saturday, August 24 saw a Club Stableford played with Jason Arnold taking the victory with a great score of 41 points.

Jason was followed closely by Adam Hull with 40 points. This gave the pair the top two spots in Division One.

In Division Two Tom Berry topped the leaderboard with 38 points, with Neil Baber and David Hill just behind on 37.

Division Three saw Wayne Moore and Michael Lander on 33 points – Wayne winning with a better back nine.

The best score in the Ladies section was Tracy Chandler, who scored 37 points.

Huge congratulations also go to Shirley Stunnell, who got a Hole-in-One on the seventh hole.
