THE Seniors better ball stableford, played at Downes Crediton Golf Club on Monday, February 6 saw a tremendous score of 48 points posted by Jim Dunlop and Barry Greedy to take a fine victory on a cold and wet day.

Frank Morrell and partner Roger Wellaway put together a 45 point total to take second place whilst Alan Draper and Ian Pring scored 44 points to finish third.

Downes ladies braved cold and testing conditions on Thursday, February 9 to play a nine hole Stableford. Fran Shrubsole scored an impressive 20 points to beat her nearest challengers by two clear points to take victory whilst Judith Ezard (18 pts) finished second beating Liz Mapson (18 pts) into third courtesy of a superior back nine holes.

Crediton men played a three player team stableford on Saturday, February 11 that required them to score one stableford score on par 5’s, two on par 4’s and three on par 3’s.

With some good scores being posted throughout the day it was the last team that came off the course that secured the victory.

The trio of Graham Dyne, Mike Nott and Andy Frankum put together a fine total of 88 points that saw their nearest challengers trail in their wake by five clear points.

Finishing second were Jon Cornish, Matt Redstone and Rodin MacKay scoring 83 points beating Jason Arnold, Darren Clifford and Michael White (83 pts) into third place with a better back nine.
