DOWNES Crediton Golf Club seniors competed in a team Texas Scramble on Monday, December 12 where there were some superb scores posted.

Winning were the trio of Graham Pateman, John Dean and Simon Mannell who scored an impressive nett 62.

Quinn Payne-Cook, Steve Lay and Tom Long scored a nett 63 to follow in second place beating Cyril Dawes, Paul Willcocks and Paul Fricker (nett 63) into third courtesy of a better back nine.

The ladies played a Christmas fancy dress “Sip and Slurp” nine holes on Thursday, December 15 where much fun and festive spirit was enjoyed by all.

Saturday, December 17 saw Downes members play an individual par/bogey competition, open to all sections of the club.

Nick Staddon scored a “best of the day” +6 to take top spot by a single shot from runner-up Jim Dunlop (+5). Staddon and Dunlop also finished first and second in Division Two with Jon Cornish taking third with a +2 total.

Andy Frankum continued his fine recent run of form taking victory in Division One scoring +4 beating Tristan Kershaw (+4) into second place courtesy of a better back nine.

Ben Marchant and Paul Sandercock followed in third and fourth respectively both scoring +3.

Matt Redstone was top of the pile in Division Three with his +3 total with Tim Staite (+2) second and Graham Scarrott third posting +1.

Kate Cornish took the honours in the Ladies Division scoring +1 with Fran Shrubsole runner-up, a level par 0.
