AT the end of last week’s article we promised to report on an extremely rare golfing achievement.

Two weeks ago we featured one of our lady golfers having not one, but two aces, or more correctly holes in one.

Incredible though it may seem we have to report that Lyn Parry has gone and done it again!

Three aces, between September 30 and October 30, this time at Tiverton on the 12th hole.

Could this be something of a record? Indeed it could well be!

This extraordinary achievement was picked up by the media. It was reported on local and national news, Devon Golf, and featured nationally on the website of England Golf.

In fact England Golf reports that the odds of this happening apparently are 1.95 trillion to one!

Lyn has become a bit of a celebrity overnight! She was interviewed by England golf and her interview featured on their website this week. Here’s a little of what she told them about herself.

Lyn began playing golf at the age of 58, and made her first hole-in-one approximately 10 years ago. She then had another ace a few years later. Both of these were at her home club, Downes Crediton.

Asked about her golf Lyn said: “The gratifying thing is that my handicap has come down by nearly seven shots – and I’m old!

“It will probably go up again soon, because actually golf is quite hard, but it’s been a great year!"

Lyn also said that as a senior lady, 74 to be exact, “you are never too old to play golf”.

“I’ve made plenty of friends through golf, and I think my message to women and girls is that it’s not just for the lads. Girls can achieve just as much, so why not give it a go!”
