CULLOMPTON RANGERS 3 - CREDITON UNITED 0

AFTER a 6-0 win at Axminster last time out, Crediton were looking to consolidate away at Cullompton Rangers on Saturday, December 27, but they left in the end with nothing from Speeds Meadow, as their hosts ran out by three goals to nil.

Also Crediton have now slipped to 10th in the table. There were ex Kirton boys on show for Cullompton such as Kieran Knight, Adam Bilcock and Louis Stephens.

It could have been a quite different scoreline though as despite conceding a great deal of possession during the first 20 minutes or so, Crediton gradually worked their way into the game and only a fine save by the home goalie stopped them from opening the scoring.

Kevin Pike received the ball on the right wing, cut inside and sent a great cross toward the far post and Isaac Littlejohns effort was brilliantly kept out.

Steve Goss fired a shot over from around the six yard box and the same player went close with a header soon afterwards.

So, the teams went in scoreless at half time. I don't know what was said but whatever the home manager said to his troops at half time it definitely worked.

The half was only 10 minutes old when Cully opened the scoring after some consistent pressure, 1-0.

Ten minutes later it was 2-0 as after a rather scruffy period of play the home side found the net for the second time.

Crediton now began the seemingly endless arrival of substitutes but this did not lead to very much and in the 73rd minute the home side made it three with the defence caught out once more.

There were some good performances from the lads but despite the return of Kevin Pike, who made a real difference when attacking during the first half and Dave Lee being solid in midfield, there was little to write home about this second half performance.

This game proved popular with the locals and the crowd was 245. We now move back to Lords Meadow on Saturday when Ilminster Town are the visitors.

Man of the Match: Isaac Littlejohns.

Crediton Team: Leyton, Shaw, Gethings, Lee, Butterfield, Goss, Morris, Pike, Allum, Southcott and Littlejohns.
