DOWNES Crediton Men and Ladies came together on Sunday, October 22 to compete for the Annual Mixed Gruesomes Trophy. Lyn Parry and Tristan Kershaw scored an impressive 42 points to take the win, beating June Mitchell and Tony Sykes (39 points) into second.
Showing the changing of the seasons Downes Seniors played their Poultry Stableford on Monday, October 23 and Dennis Wright took top spot with a fine 43 points.
Wright also topped Division One with Mike Conder posting 41 for second whilst Pete Russell (38 points) followed in third.
Joe Hull scored 42 points to win Division Two with Colin Cole (39 points) second and Peter Stunell scoring 36 points for third.
Downes Ladies played their EGU Medal 15 for the Mapledoram Cup on Thursday, October 26. On a tough day Judith Ezard returned a nett 76 to take the Trophy beating Ladies Captain, Shirley Stunell (nett 79) into second with Lyn Parry (nett 80) third.
As Dartmoor League Champions Downes Crediton hosted the “End of Season Bash” that included a three-man team event with representatives from all clubs and a roll up for other players.
Downes Crediton, represented by Matt Dyne, Adam Hull and Jamie McGuigan, won the Dartmoor Challenge Shield on the day whilst Downes members Neil Ford and Andy Frankum both scored 41 points to finish first and second in the Roll-up with Honiton’s Jason Gosling third.
Following the golf there was the end of season presentation where Sue Pearman presented Downes Crediton Dartmoor League Captain, Graham Dyne and his team, the First Division Champions Shield for once again winning the league in 2017.
