IT has been another busy week at Downes Crediton Golf Club with 12 competitions listed as “upcoming” in addition to the large number of casual games played over the week.

With the summer in full swing, and the favourable weather, the club continues to be busy.

One of the most competitive of the competitions played in the Summer season is the Palairet Memorial Trophy.

This is competed for on an annual basis and is open to all Clubs affiliated to Devon Golf Limited.

For the first round the teams are drawn out of a hat, and the matches take place on neutral courses. The matches traditionally take place on the first Sunday of the month from May to August.

The latest report on the club’s Facebook page proudly says Downes Crediton Mens Palairet team is on a roll!

To quote from the post “Another great performance by the Men's Palairet team at Tiverton on Sunday. Winning 3-2 against Saunton Golf Club. Incredibly, the match came down to the last pair of Darren Russell and Andy Frankum securing the team win by closing out their match on the 20th hole! A fabulous performance team.”

The post goes on to wish the team good luck in the upcoming quarter-final at the end of this month. An update will follow in due course.

This week’s results begin with the Seniors Don McRae Trophy and July Medal.
