MANY competitions take place regularly during the golfing week at Downes Crediton Golf Club.

One of those recent events was the 9 hole Thursday Stableford competition. This competition runs throughout the Spring and Summer golfing season.

It is an ideal competition for members to enjoy after a days work.

What could be nicer than 9 holes of golf, and a little refreshment in the clubhouse afterwards.

The event is always played on the course front nine holes. For this particular competition there is also an Order of Merit.

This lists the number of times played, the number of wins, and the total number of points.

At the time of writing, at the head of the Order is Andy Dafters, having played on 19 occasions with a total of 68 points. Well done Andy.

A multi Club event in the Ladies annual calendar took place at Downes on Thursday.

This was the DCVLGA Killard Leavy Autumn Foursomes. This event dates back to 1973, the trophy having been donated by Mrs G Killard-Leavy.

Sarah Cahill and Patricia Swindell from Thurlestone Golf Club were this year’s winners, with 37 points.

The runners up trophy was won by Teresa Holt and Sheila Lang from Yelverton GC.

After qualifying at their own Club, 76 ladies from 25 Devon clubs took part in this year’s competition.

Downes Crediton Golf Club is enjoying a strong season of competitive golf, with our Dartmoor League team firmly in the promotion race, and our East Devon League side challenging for the title.

The good news continued on Sunday at Dainton Park, where Dan Brown and Luke Burchell won the Devon Golf Scratch County Foursomes.

The pair returned an excellent score of 74 to secure victory by two shots.
