DOWNES Crediton Golf Club saw one of its most important days of the year when the 2016 Captains “drove” into office.
The captains handed over their seats on a sunny Saturday at the end of January with a putt out and a drive in.
Outgoing captains were Tristan Kershaw (club), Di Botterill (ladies), Josh Hill (junior) and John Cann (senior).
Driving in for their coming year in office were David Taylor (club), Elizabeth Mapson (ladies), Liam Staite (junior) and Andrew Chandler (senior).
The drive in marks the beginning of the 40th anniversary of the club and a number of special events will be held during the year to mark the occasion.
The captain’s charity for the next 12 months is Devon Freewheelers and Dan Hart, one of the charity’s bike riders, attended the putt out and drive in to thank Mr Taylor and the club for choosing to support the charity.
Incoming ladies captain Elizabeth Mapson, a former bike enthusiast, took the opportunity to sit astride Mr Hart’s bike for a photo opportunity.
The captain’s lunch followed the opening and, as of late, there was no play as the course was too wet.
