DOWNES Crediton duo Rodin Mackay and Kevin Cole were the pride of Crediton last weekend as they were Crowned the Devon County Foursomes Scratch and Handicap Champions.

The event, played over 36 holes at Downes Crediton and Okehampton saw them post scores of 71 and 72 to secure a convincing victory.

Monday, September 7, saw Downes Crediton host its Seniors Over 55’s Pairs Open and it produced some superb scoring.

The home pair of Stewart Cowling and Nick Staddon took top spot with a fine score of 46 points, just beating Nick Bromell and Chris Vercoe (46 points) by virtue of a better back nine.

The best away pair prize went to Michael Spear and Kevin Ash from Ilfracombe Golf Club scoring 43 points whilst the best mixed pair (home and away members) was won by Nick Murch and Jon Ponsford (43 points).

Last week’s Yellow Tee Stableford, held on Wednesday, September 9, was won by Chris Theedom with 36 points whilst Ben Marchant was victorious of the white tees, posting 40 points.

Angela Dunnill won the Ladies Joker competition on Thursday, September 10, with a fantastic score of 41 points which meant she also topped Division Two with Joyce Gilg (38 points), second.

In Division One Ying Wong scored 38 points to claim victory with Lyn Parry (36 points) second.

Michael Lander won last week’s Nine Hole Stableford with a score of 21 points.
