THE Seniors at Downes Crediton Golf Club played a roll-up stableford on Monday, November 6 and Paul Dorothy stole the show scoring an impressive 41 points, four clear of his nearest challenger.

Martin Howe and David Cousins both scored 37 points to finish second and third respectively with Steve Gidley, the best of the 36 points, taking fourth.

On a rather wet Thursday (November 9) Downes ladies played a three player team Texas Scramble, which saw Ladies Captain, Shirley Stunell join forces with Lyn Parry and Sue Barr to score a nett 74 to take the victory.

Penny Long, Annet Coles and Sue Jackson finished second whilst Joyce Gilg, Rickie Pawsey and Jo Coe took third.

Also on Thursday, Downes Crediton Professional Barry Austin won the latest Devon Professional Golfers Alliance meeting played at Churston Golf Club.

He scored an impressive gross 66, five under par, to amass 41 points and beat his nearest challenger, Saunton’s Nicky Madison (38 pts), by three. Paul Hendriksen (Ivybridge) scored 37 points to finish third.

The fact that rain fell for the majority of Saturday, November 11 didn’t stop Ben Marchant score a wonderful 43 points to take the overall win in the Poultry Stableford.

Marchant also topped Division One with Adam Hull posting 40 points to finish second and Scott Singleton (35pts) in third.

Brian Kelly took the win in Division Two scoring 37 points beating Pete Russell (37pts) and Mike Charnock (37pts) into second and third by virtue of a better back nine holes.

Division Three saw Andrew Rogers take the victory with 39 points whist Mike White and Simon March both had 38 points to lay second and third.
