TEN teams, each of four players, took part in a fundraising 18-hole golf day for Crediton United AFC, held at Downes Crediton Golf Club.

The event, held on Friday, September 23, was organised by Dave Blanchford, the president of Crediton United AFC, who was assisted by the football club bar steward Jill Tucker.

Devon Greenslade, Golf Club Administrator and Professional helped with the organisation of the event and Mike Downing did all the booking-in and collected the fees for the day.

Each hole was sponsored by a local business and there were prizes for the winners and runners-up.

It was a shotgun start, two scores to count stableford.

In total, with the money raised from the impressive raffle, about £1,400 was raised for Crediton United FC.

Dave said that he would like to thank all the hole sponsors and everyone who took part.

He added: “I was asked if I would be arranging another one next year - yes and yes.

“I would also like to thank Downes Crediton Golf Club for holding the day and also the staff in the kitchen for the superb bacon baps and the evening meal.”
