DOWNES Crediton Golf Club seniors played their first trophy competition of 2016, The Chris Horgan Trophy, a three clubs and putter event, on Monday, March 14.

Winning Division One and the trophy was the in-form Colin Wheatcroft with 38 points, in second place was Ian Pring with 36 points and third place went to Andrew Scoots with 34 points.

Division Two was won by Tom Pettifer with 33 points, in second place was John Hooper with 31 points and in third place was John Cann also with 31 points but just losing out on countback.

Saturday, March 19, saw 98 Downes members compete in an individual stableford on a beautiful day using a full course.

Division One winner, with a score of 40 points, was Jason Arnold who just beat Tracey Chandler who also scored 40 points but lost out on countback to finish second. In third place was Simon Cartlidge with 39 points.

Division Two and overall winner was Ryan Cross who scored a superb 45 points, in second place with 41 points was Jim Dunlop and in third place was Ian Steer with 40 points.

Division Three was won by Dan Rogers with 42 points just beating Fran Shrubsole on countback, also scoring 42 points, in third place was John Warren with 41 points.
