NEWTON ABBOT 38-14 CREDITON RFC COLTS XV

WITH eight Colts stepping up into senior rugby at the weekend, the depth of the squad was tested, and despite what the scoreboard suggests, the lads put in a tremendous shift.

Newton arrived at full strength and a sloppy first quarter gave them the platform to take control early on.

But once we settled, we grew into the game and, either side of halftime, really took it to the visitors, getting the better of them in most areas and showing the quality this group has.

Inevitably, the lack of numbers began to tell in the final quarter. With bodies tiring and no reinforcements available, Newton were able to pull away late on.

But context matters. With only five recognised backs in the squad and several players operating out of position, the lads showed real fight, determination, and pride in the shirt.

They stuck at it, fronted up physically, and represented the club superbly.

A tough day, but a performance full of character, and one that reflects the strength and spirit of this Colts group.

Coming up on Saturday, March 14: 1st XV – no game, 2nd XV v Withycombe (H), 3rd XV v Teignmouth (H), Colts XV v Camp Hill (H).
