YOUTH football returned to Lords Meadow at the weekend with the start of the new league campaigns.

The U16’s had a fine start to the season as they ran out 6-0 winners against Culm Sampford Lions.

It was a very close affair as the U14’s hosted Exmouth United. It took a penalty from the guests to break the deadlock and give them a 1-0 victory. But the home side did everything but score in the later stages.

The U12’s put in a tremendous performance as they beat Cullompton Rangers Reds 3-1. Freddie Rose with a fine header opened the scoring, with Lennon Young getting the other two.

Sunday saw the U16 girls start their season off with a fine 8-0 victory over Twyford Spartans. Olivia Mills led the scoring for the home side with four, and doubles from Gracie Clements and Lucy O’Connell capped a fine team performance for them.

It was a bad day at the office for the U12 girls as they went down heavily to Upton Athletic.
