AFTER last week's cup win it was back to league action as the "ford" entertained Chagford in a Division Five match at the George V Playing Field at Sandford.

The home side kicked off, playing away from the pavilion and were soon on the attack, which came to nothing, then the visitors went close at the other end.

Both teams in the top half of the league were evenly matched and the game followed from end to end.

Front runner Jayden John Mark went close for Sandford and midfielder Shaun Stapleton tried an overhead kick from a corner but this went wide of the post.

Chagford as a team were playing some lovely football but were unable to break down the "ford" defence.

Then on 35 minutes a through ball sent left-winger James Durand towards the goal with only the keeper to beat, which he did brilliantly, 1-0.

After the restart Chagford had their first real shot, which was saved.

In the 41st minute, after a fierce tackle, a Chagford defender was injured and after attention was substituted.

As the half came to an end Sandford had a corner from which Tyler Morgan Hugget scored to increase the home sides lead, halftime 2-0.

The second half saw Chagford coming more into the game and Sandford had to do a lot of defending.

On 54 minutes left-winger Durand had his name taken for kicking the ball away, very stupid.

Although defending a lot Sandford managed several attacks and from one of these Chris Hawkes made it 3-0.

Most of the visitors attempts at goal were either blocked or went wide with the exception of a high ball which keeper Charles Headley dealt with. At the end of the match the score was Sandford 3 - Chagford 0.

Another fully deserved three points for the "ford" so it's two wins from two games, well played to all the team.

No match next Saturday but the week after the "ford" are home again, this time it's Tedburn St Mary who are the visitors.

One note for "ford" fans dairies is the next round of the Devon Intermediate Cup is Sandford are at home against North Tawton on October 10, KO 2pm.
