LAST Saturday Sandford FC entertained Cheriton Fitzpaine in a local football derby.
After a winning sequence the "ford" were looking to extend their good fortune at the expense of their near neighbours.
Sandford kicked off playing towards the pavilion and the away side soon went on the attack and after five minutes opened their account, 0-1.
Sandford started more into the game and after 10 minutes Sandford had a free kick outside the box which Ryan Trump hit for the opposition keeper to fumble away for corner.
On 20 minutes Sandford drew level with Tudor Morgan Hugget scoring for them, 1-1.
Five minutes later during a heavy rain shower Cheriton scored their second after a defensive blunder by the Sandford keeper.
The "ford's" defence came under more pressure with the midfield non existent and on the 33rd minute Cheriton scored again to make it 1-3 at halftime.
After a dull first half Sandford made some tactical changes and put up more fight but what chances they made were either saved or missed.
On 76 minutes the away side scored again to make it 1-4.
Sandford kept trying but whatever they tried didn't work and just before the end Cheriton made the score 1-5.
Funny how a week can change your fortunes, last week brilliant, this week not so good.
Next Saturday hopefully they can return to winning ways when they entertain Awliscombe, kick off 2.15pm.
