ANOTHER glorious Saturday saw Sandford entertain Tedburn St Mary in their third league match of the season at the George V Playing Field.

The home side kicked off and were slow to get into their rhythm, allowing Tedburn a few opening chances.

After 11 minutes a "ford" attack led to left winger Lewis Mooney scoring the opening goal for the home side, 1-0.

On 13 minutes front runner Jayden John Mark injured his leg and went off for treatment, he came back on but after a period of time had come off for good.

Sandford were now beginning to come more into the game with right winger Tudor Morgan Hugget forcing the keeper to save, then a Tedburn player had a shot from all 35 to 40 yards out which cannoned off the "ford" post.

The Sandford midfield of Tom Cornwall and Ryan Trump were chasing everything and creating chances.

On 22 minutes a "ford" corner led to Tyler Morgan Hugget making it 2-0 to Sandford with a headed goal.

Tedburn were lacking in height in defence and were under pressure from all high balls.

Even the Sandford defence were trying to score with Danny Stevens going close.

On 31 minutes Lewis Mooney was on hand to score his second of the game to make it 3-0.

Ten minutes later another Sandford corner led to Tyler Morgan Hugget making it 4-0 with another header.

Then just before halftime another corner saw Tyler head over. Halftime arrived with the score 4-0.

The second half saw Tedburn come more into the game but still not creating any serious chances.

On 50 minutes Ryan Trump took a free kick which went right through the Tedburn defence and not a Sandford player could get to it.

Sandford made five substitutions bringing in Josh Saunders, Richard Carter and Abe Dellamuro in defence and Dylan Cavender and James Durand up front.

On 81 minutes the referee gave Tedburn a penalty from which the player sent Sandford keeper Charles Headley the wrong way to score, 4-1.

Sandford kept pressing and were rewarded in the 82nd minute when Lewis Mooney completed his hat trick to make the score 5-1.

Just before the end Tedburn forced keeper Headley to make a fingertip save to deny them.

Then Sandford should have been awarded a penalty for a blatant push in the back of one of their players but for some reason the referee who was clearly unsighted gave a free kick to Tedburn. Final score 5-1 to the "ford".

Another great three points for the home side that's three wins in three league matches.

Next Saturday Sandford are home to North Tawton in the second round of the Devon Intermediate Cup, KO 2pm.

Well done to all the team.
